Ariana Grande releases first new solo song in three years

While there is definitively no new Britney Spears song (much to our chagrin), there is a new Ariana Grande song, People reports.

The single will be released on January 12, and Grande teased the news on Instagram today, writing simply, "Yes, And' 1.12." Grande is wearing red lipstick in a photo that appears to be artwork for the song.

The return of the conversation to her music will be welcome for Grande, who has been in the news since the summer for her relationship with Ethan Slater. She has not released any of her own music since her 2020 album Positions, but she has released a song with Kid Cudi on the soundtrack to Don't Look Up in 2021, a remix of The Weeknd's "Save Your Tears" (also in 2021 2023), and a remix of his song "Die for You" (2023), as a featured artist on several singles. During the holiday season, he was featured on 2021's "It Was a... (Masked Christmas)" and collaborated with Jimmy Fallon and Meghan C. Stallion on "Santa, Can't You Hear Me?" with Kelly Clarkson that same year.

Although she has not had any new music of her own for three years, Grande celebrated the 10th anniversary of her debut album, Yours Truly, in August with a reissue of the album that included new live material.

Grande's recent focus has been on her beauty brand, REM Beauty, and her appearance in the film adaptation of Wicked, in which she plays Glinda the Good Witch (and met Slater).

Despite the upheaval, last month Grande expressed gratitude for 2023, which she described as "one of the most transformative, most challenging, and yet happiest and most special years of my life." (In addition to starting a relationship with Slater, Grande also divorced her husband of two years, Dalton Gomez.) ) "I gave everything I could give my heart and myself to the project I was fortunate enough to be a part of, and learned so much from all the wonderful and beautiful souls I was able to create art with and mingle with this year.

In addition to a new single, a new album will be released soon. Last month, she shared a photo dump on Instagram that included footage of her napping on a couch in her studio. In the video, Grande was asked by a collaborator about her feelings on "almost the last day of this album," and she curled up. She replied, "I'm very tired, but very happy and grateful."
