Protests continue across the United States in the wake of the death of George Floyd (opens in new tab) by Minneapolis police officer Derek Shovin. Countless individuals and groups are actively using their voices and platforms to protest the systemic racism embedded in the United States. Not only Floyd, but also Ahmoud Arberry (opens in new tab), Breeona Taylor (opens in new tab), Eric Garner (opens in new tab) (who also complained that he "couldn't breathe" to the police), and countless others of color who have been murdered by police.

There are ways to support (opens in new tab) those on the front lines of protest, and there are many types of resources at that link. The Minnesota Freedom Fund (open in new tab), which provides bail for incarcerated protesters, has already raised over $20 million and is now encouraging supporters to donate to local black and BIPOC-led organizations and Floyd's family. Chrissy Teigen (open in new tab) has pledged $200,000 to help the protesters. Filmmaker Matthew A. Cherry has compiled a comprehensive list of bail organizations by state (opens in new tab). The National Bail Fund has a comprehensive list of foundations (opens in new tab).

The following brands are supporting demonstrators by donating to the Bail Fund. This is especially noteworthy given that other brands have remained silent on the issue or expressed solidarity without specific support. In short, for those of us who wish to practice more conscious consumerism, this is at least a start.

The L.A.-based cosmetics company said in a characteristically colorful post (opens in new tab) that it will donate to organizations including the Minnesota Freedom Foundation. They linked to their site on their Instagram story to encourage others to donate as well.

Although one of their stores was looted, the flight club said it was committed to supporting peaceful protesters. They donated to the Bail Project (open in new tab) and encouraged their followers (open in new tab) to do the same.

On May 31, Glossier donated $500,000 to organizations that support protesters and fight injustice (open in new tab): "Black Lives Matter, The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, The Equal Justice Initiative, The Marsha P. Johnson Institute, and We The Protesters.

"We are inspired by the many people in our community who are using their voices to make a difference. We are watching you and are with you. For those looking for ways to take action, you can find resources for involvement and education in our Stories," the post explained, linking directly to Floyd and others' petition for justice.

The sustainable, vegan beauty brand donated 100 percent of its profits from the weekend to, among others, the Minnesota Freedom Fund.

The lifestyle brand explained: "We are committed to utilizing our voice and resources in a productive way that we pray will spur the change we need to make for the safety of our citizens, friends, family, and neighbors." They cited GoFundMes and the Minnesota Freedom Fund as some of the organizations they support.

One of the many organizations to which Corsas donated is Black Lives Matter LA, which leads the Los Angeles Action Bail Fund (open in new tab).

The Cruelty Free makeup brand donated to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, stating: "We stand with the black community."

In a Sunday post, Puma explained that it was helping by donating to the Minnesota Freedom Fund.

One of Meghan Markle's favorite shoe brands, like Glossier, donated (open in new tab) to organizations fighting for equality, including LDF.

Founder Riley said, "George Floyd and I are both from Houston. In fact, we both attended Lamar High School, and he graduated from Yates High School. We had very different lives, different opportunities, different challenges. If the two of us had been in the exact same situation, in the exact same moment, I think it would have ended differently for me."

The company donated to LDF, and Riley said he wanted to work locally in Houston.

Shoe and apparel stores in Philadelphia and D.C. explained that they donated to the Minnesota Freedom Fund and listed organizations that followers could donate to or support as well.

Urban Decay is one of the most prominent cosmetics companies that has made donations, including to the Minnesota Freedom Fund.

Other brands, such as ASOS (open in new tab), have given money to organizations but have not yet identified where it goes; some, like Peloton, have donated money to organizations like Black Lives Matter (open in new tab). We will update this article as more details become available.
